This Saturday the Rockingham County Gun Club will host ATA National Trapshooting Month with a 300 target program.

Registration begins at 8:30 and shooting will begin soon thereafter. Thanks to the RCGC board for permission to secure official ATA leather Shamrock trophies for this shoot.

These trophies have been awarded in 2010, 2020 and now in 2025. Normally the ATA logo only appears at state shoots, satellite grands and the Grand American in Sparta Illinois.

Some of our top NC adult and youth shooters will be competing and our NC State President Marty Hill will be in attendance.

If you would like to help us run the shoot or just want to enjoy watching clay targets being crushed please attend.

Also a big shout out to RCGC member and 2025 Dixie Grand Singles Champion Mark Cox. He broke the lone 199  out of 304 competitors to secure the victory. He was shooting a modified BT99 in competition.

We hope to see you at the club and on the line!

Big day at the gun club with shooters from around the area and as far away as Boone NC. The weather was great and we had 4 squads of singles, 5 squads of handicap and 3 squads of doubles.

RCGC club member Mark Cox won the singles with a 99 and a 49/50 in a shootoff. Greg Robinson won the handicap with a 91 from the 27 yard line. Shawn Reese won the doubles with a 95 and Jacob Gossett won the HOA

Big thanks to all of the scorers and loaders that helped and the grounds looked great! We were quite a few people down due to unforseen circumstances but somehow it all came together.

Trap chairman Lane Murray did a great job running the shoot software and overseeing the competition. All of our shoots are run with club volunteers and to continue to hosts these events we need more help from our club members.

Plans are being made to setup some clinics to familiarize members with our trap program. If you know of any youth group or explorers that might be interested in helping please let Lane know.

One more BIG50 and I believe it is the 26th. That will bring an end to our 2025 shooting season.

That is all for now and have a great weekend!
